What is this type of insurance?

This is a driveaway insurance policy, meaning cover is only valid for up to 5 days from the date of commencement as shown on your schedule. It provides cover against damage to your car or damage caused by your car, as summarised below.

What is insured?

  • Loss of or damage to your car: Resulting from accidental damage, fire or theft.
  • Third party liability: Following an accident, we’ll cover your liability to other people for injury (unlimited) or damage to their property (up to £20 million).
  • Replacement locks and keys: Cover to the value of £1,000 if your car keys are lost or stolen.
  • Courtesy car: You may keep the courtesy car for a period of up to 14 days or until your car is returned to you (whichever is less). Where your car is repairable or deemed a total loss, subject to availability.
  • Windscreen cover: Glass repair or replacement is covered up to the market value of your car.
  • Replacement child car seat: Cover in the event of an accident which involves impact damage.
  • Personal accident cover up to £2,500 per person up to a maximum of £10,000.
  • Medical expenses of up to £100 per person, up to £500.
  • Electric vehicles: Cover for your battery and charging cables.

What is not insured?

  • Any loss, damage or liability if you are not aged 17 to 90 and do not live permanently in the United Kingdom or the Isle of Man.
  • Any loss, damage or liability if your car is not taxed and registered in the United Kingdom or the Isle of Man.
  • Any travel outside the territorial limits.
  • Death or Bodily Injury caused by alcohol, drugs, racing, not wearing a seatbelt, or any event caused intentionally by an insured person.
  • All points under the General Exclusions section of the Policy Wording are not covered.
  • All points listed in the “What is not covered” column of each section of the Policy Wording are not covered.
  • Car contents and personal belongings are not covered.
  • A courtesy car in the event of the theft or attempted theft of your car.

Are there any restrictions on cover?

  • You are only covered in the United Kingdom, The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man in respect of loss of or damage to your car.
  • Theft or attempted theft of your car if your car is unoccupied at the time of the theft, unless your car is locked and the ignition key or other removable ignition device was not in, on or left unattended in the immediate proximity of your car.
  • Loss or damage to non-standard audio/visual and other non standard in-car entertainment.
  • Panoramic glass is not covered under the Windscreen Cover section of the policy.

Where am I covered?

As standard you are covered when driving your car in the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands.

In addition you are provided the legal minimum cover required to drive in the territorial limits, in the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Vatican City.

What are my obligations?

When and how do I pay?

There is no charge for 5 Day Free Car Insurance.

When does the cover start and end?

Cover starts on the date shown on your schedule and remains in force until you or we cancel or the 5 day duration expires.

How do I cancel the contract?

You can cancel the policy before driveaway starts or within the 5 day driveaway period before it expires, through your online customer account. Cover will cease immediately. You will not be charged a fee to cancel your policy.
